If you are a beginner or someone just want to learn the foundations of photography then this is the course for you.

For those who want to learn the basics of photography in a classroom environment, this course will provide you with everything you need to help you with your camera journey.

What will you learn

In a class room environment with a maximum of 6 other students and a minimum of 4, you will learn the foundations of photography. Each class is 90 minutes long and is a mix of both theory and practical exercises.

This course will cover the following modules over the 4 week period.

How to use your camera in manual mode and the basic functions

How to use a speedlite

The role of composition and communication in photography

How to buy second hand equipment and tips to help you develop further

Where is it held

Kogarah Art School.

Located in the St George district of Sydney, Kogarah art school is a beautiful sandstone building dating back to XXXX. It is a 10 minute walk from the train station with plenty of street parking for those that drive.

What time

This course is divided over 4 lessons and will run from November the 5th till the 26th.

Each lesson will be 90 minutes long and will be from 6pm till 7.30pm

How much

The total course fee is 350.00 per person which includes the GST.

Payment can be made via our website (card surcharge applies) or in person via cash at the start of lesson 1.

What do i need to bring?

If you own a camera please bring it along as well as a camera flash if you have one. Regardless if it is a film camera, a mirrorless, or a DSLR, so long as you have a camera that is all that matters.

  • What are guide numbers, guide number formulas, and when would I use them.

  • What is flash zoom and rear curtain flash.

Lesson 3

Communication and Composition

This lesson teaches you how to work with people, how to communicate your ideas , and how to compose a photo.

  • Learn how to effectivley communicate with any audience

  • All about compositon across multiple photography genres.

  • Practical exercises on composiiton and communication

Lesson 4

Buying camera gear and review.

In our final lesson we talk about a variety of subjects to help you in the next stage of your photographic journey.

  • What to look for and how to buy used camera equipment.

  • Its all about you ! We discuss what you want to learn next and tips to help you develop once you leave the class.

  • Revision and review of the course so far and cover any ground your are not sure on.

  • Its goodbye but not the end as we finish the four weeks.
