If you are a beginner or someone just want to learn the foundations of photography then this is the course for you.
For those who want to learn the basics of photography in a classroom environment, this course will provide you with everything you need to help you with your camera journey.
What will you learn
In a class room environment with a maximum of 6 other students and a minimum of 4, you will learn the foundations of photography. Each class is 90 minutes long and is a mix of both theory and practical exercises.
This course will cover the following modules over the 4 week period.
How to use your camera in manual mode and the basic functions
How to use a speedlite
The role of composition and communication in photography
How to buy second hand equipment and tips to help you develop further
Where is it held
Kogarah Art School.
Located in the St George district of Sydney, Kogarah art school is a beautiful sandstone building dating back to XXXX. It is a 10 minute walk from the train station with plenty of street parking for those that drive.
What time
This course is divided over 4 lessons and will run from November the 5th till the 26th.
Each lesson will be 90 minutes long and will be from 6pm till 7.30pm
How much
The total course fee is 350.00 per person which includes the GST.
Payment can be made via our website (card surcharge applies) or in person via cash at the start of lesson 1.
What do i need to bring?
If you own a camera please bring it along as well as a camera flash if you have one. Regardless if it is a film camera, a mirrorless, or a DSLR, so long as you have a camera that is all that matters.

Buying camera gear and review.
In our final lesson we talk about a variety of subjects to help you in the next stage of your photographic journey.

We discuss what you want to learn next and tips to help you develop once you leave the class.
Revision and review of the course so far and cover any ground your are not sure on.
Its goodbye but not the end as we finish the four weeks.

Yes!
This course is perfect for people who want to gain confidence in using there camera and camera flash. It will provide you with the foundations that you can build on in the future and provide a solid understanding of how to get the most out of your camera when it comes to taking bettter photos.

Not at all!
It does not matter at all if you have an old film camera, DSLR, brand new mirrorless, or even a medium format camera. Bring any camera you have and if you don’t have one you can use one of ours during the lessons.

If you own a camera flash please bring it along, if not there will be a spare camera flash avaliable on the day.

The course is structured in person and over four ninety minute lessons.
There will be a mix of theory learning, practical demonstrations, as well as activities.
The goal is to create an environment, which is positive, collaborative, and fun to learn.

The course will be held every Thursday night at Kogarah Art Centre between 6pm till 7.30pm. Kogarah arts center is a short ten minute walk from the train station and has a nearby bus route as well as ample street parking.

Your teacher for the next 4 weeks will Giacomo (James for short) Zadro. Giacomo has over a decades worth of photographic experience across portraiture, corporate, weddings, studio, and travel photography. He is an international award winning photographer who has been teaching privately for the past 2 years but has decided to expand into classroom teaching.
